Dr. Harkesh Rathore, working as Assistant professor in Shri Bhawani Niketan P.G. college Jaipur since 2015 has been awarded Ph.D. degree on her thesis entitled “Assessment of sperm and testicular toxicity of Azoxystrobin in Swiss albino male mice” in the faculty of science, IIS (Deemed to be university), Jaipur under the Supervision of Dr. Geeta Pandey, Assistant Professor, IIS (deemed to be university) Jaipur. on dated 19th Nov. 2024.
In present study, one of the widely used fungicides Azoxystrobin was chosen to analyze its toxic impact on male reproductive system Toxicity of Azoxystrobin at three different doses. This is the first study of its kind to report Azoxystrobin induced reproductive toxicity in mice. Amelioration of Azoxystrobin induced testicular injury after withdrawal of Azoxystrobin, makes this study a step ahead of the others.
Based on our study we concluded that Azoxystrobin treatment for long duration can cause adverse impact on reproductive system of male however the toxic effects can be reversed if exposure is interrupted.
The current study's findings emphasize that Azoxystrobin may negatively affect the reproductive ability of male mice. The accumulation and amplification of this fungicide through different levels of the food chain raise significant concerns regarding its broader ecological and health consequences. Consequently, it is advisable to minimize ongoing exposure to Azoxystrobin due to its potential adverse effects, particularly as demonstrated by its impact on the reproductive potential of male mice in research studies.
